NIK & EVA SPEAKMAN

Article from the Dalyan Times in two parts:

The Speakmans & me!

The Speakmans (Nik and Eva) from the hugely successful A Life Coach Less Ordinary - and they are less ordinary, that’s for sure!

I know some people were surprised when I told them I was going to attend a seminar with The Speakmans (to a select 30 Therapists in the exclusive Real Tennis Club in Manchester last November). People made comments about them being wacky and even questioning their qualifications. But having done some NLP training myself and read some of the books they have, I had a better understanding of why they behave the way they do, and live the life they lead, they truly walk the walk and talk the talk! These methods really do make a difference, take it from me, someone who has suffered from periods of depression, suicide, severe moods and the death of my 5 year old daughter, to name but a few issues! You have a choice whether you want to heal or change your life, and only you can make that decision!

Another comment was “It’s alright for them”, meaning they are wealthy celebrities so they have no problems! But if you read their book Your Life Can Be Fantastic Too (the profits are being donated to Chester Zoo’s Conservation Worldwide charity) you will learn more about their background. Like many other people they have had issues such as poor health for which they were hospitalised. Both were bullied and had weight problems, Nik became thin after developing asthma and Eva was overweight (she lost 3.5 stone) and been a heavy smoker before she met Nik. You’ll learn a lot more about them from their book and what they’ve overcome, very inspirational.

In their book The Speakman’s share of the best and highly successful techniques and exercises that, even some they’ve created themselves,.  If you follow this book, implement some of their tips and ideas into your life, you will notice a difference.  Even though I am a Therapist and have studied some of the same therapies as Nik and Eva, I learned from their book.  Also, luckily for me, I have seen them live in action in addition to receiving a certificate for learning one of their methods (Visual Coding Displacement) to help people with fears and phobias.  I sent a copy of their book to my brother, a Psychologist, who said he’d try their methods with some of his clients who have fears and phobias.

In the 1970’s Dr Callahan, a revolutionary Psychologist (Hypnotherapist and pioneer in Cognitive Therapy) was frustrated with the 5% success rate working with clients who had fears and phobias.  In his search for an alternative method, he discovered by chance that tapping on acupuncture points (an ancient Chinese Meridian Therapy several thousand years old)  could cure fears.  Dr Callahan cured a client, who he had been working with for 18 months (consider how expensive that must have been) simply by tapping on one of the 365 acupuncture points.  Hence Thought Field Therapy (the forerunner to the hugely successful EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques) was discovered and created.  Dr Callahan’s, success rate increased to 75-80%.

If someone can be traumatized in 30 seconds, why can’t they be healed in a day, an hour a minute?  Rick Wilkes

EFT has an even higher success rate but as Nik and Eva demonstrated several times, you can be healed in a matter of minutes.  Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until the next issue of the Dalyan Times to hear more about the guy with a severe height phobia who they cured in less than 20 minutes, you’ll be amazed at the results.  Also, a woman with a chocolate addiction (how many of you would benefit from that?) and another who couldn’t eat vegetables and since being cured has since lost a massive amount of weight.

Even during one practical session, working with a seminar colleague using the Speakman’s VCD technique, 100% success was achieved.  I decided to work on my lack of desire to eat peaches!  Like many people, during the breaks I chose to eat biscuits with my cup of tea, rather than any of the fresh fruit.  Biscuits are far more appealing to me than fruit!  Nik was a bit taken aback that I used their technique the other way round ie to try to make me want to eat something rather than trying to stop, but it worked.  In addition to eating peaches, I even ate mangoes when we flew to Australia two days after this seminar, which I would never have touched before!  WOW!

You can’t help but feel FANTASTIC when you spend time with Eva and Nik, their positivity is infectious! Thank you Eva and Nik, hope to see you in Dalyan next time, or even Sydney when your television programme starts Down Under.

Continuing The Speakmans seminar, working with real issues:

Your fears have stopped you before,

but they need not stop you now.

During the seminar, Eva & Nik Speakman worked with some people who had severe fears and phobias:

One success was with a guy who had a fear of heights from being a young child. A fear he thought came from an incident when he dived off a slide, landing on his head. However, Nik uncovered the real cause of his fear, it was created from a fairground ride. Nik stood on the balcony overlooking the tennis courts where the seminar was being help –– but this guy couldn’t even stand on the balcony and found it stressful to see Nik standing on it. We could all see that the guy was in a right state just thinking about Nik working with him on this fear! It was amazing, therefore, to see Nik heal this fear in approx 20 minutes (a fear he’d had for more than 40 years) and then it was Nik who was surprised, when he tested the results by returning to the balcony, the guy walked onto the balcony and swung over the edge around one of the columns, about a 30 foot drop at least!

What's the worst that can happen?  And if that  happened,
what would happen then? And if that happened, then what
Now...if you give in to your fears, where will that leave you?
Right where you are now? And if that's where you want to be,
why is the other option even a little bit exciting to you?

Another lady Nik worked with had an addiction to chocolate - who doesn’t? This lady nearly snatched a Kitkat out of Nik’s hand when he put it near her face, so that she could smell it and give Nik and indication how much she wanted it!  But rather than reduce the desire to 0, Nik simply reduced it from a 10 (or higher!) to 2.  Working this way reduced the intense craving so then she had a choice whether to eat a Kitkat or not.  Again this was done in a matter of minutes.

Note: This was done for demonstration purposes, not to remove this lady’s addiction to chocolate. The best way is to treat the addiction to chocolate as a whole, rather than an individual bar (unless there’s only one type that you eat), and although it’s possible to reduce the addiction from a 10 to a 0 in one session, unless you remove the issue that creates that desire, people often replace one addiction with another eg smoking for food, so they often put on weight.

There were other successes too, a lady who couldn’t eat vegetables due to a trauma at school (aged 4 approx) when the Headmistress tried to force her to eat her school lunch but it made her vomit.  This lady couldn’t even have gravy on her meat if the gravy had been made from water used to cook the vegetables.  Eva and Nik very kindly continued to work with this lady after the seminar, and later in their own home, as we were running out of time, but they succeeded in helping this lady, she now eats vegetables and has lost a considerable amount of weight.  Awesome, especially if you think this lady had had her fear for something like 58 years!

Eva and Nik demonstrated many other techniques too such as changing what we think and say about ourselves, how to be positive, upbeat and happy, setting goals and achieving them, in addition to eating right for your blood type which I will write about later, and so much more. Suffice it to say it was an AWESOME experience spending 2 full days with them, plus I got some personal time with them at the end of each day - probably because I was on their gratitude list (another tip of theirs that they use morning and night), having postponed our trip to Australia and flown from Turkey to attend their seminar!
